Following the launch of the Nespresso Pop machine, the brand sought to expand its presence through a series of bold, unexpected activations designed to introduce the product to new audiences in playful and highly shareable ways. The concept behind the Pop Café campaign was rooted in surprise and delight—placing miniature cafés in iconic, unconventional locations to reflect the machine’s compact size and vibrant personality. These activations were strategically developed to build buzz in key markets, with each location tailored to amplify the Pop’s energy and color story while connecting with culturally relevant moments. The goal was not only to generate awareness for the product, but to create immersive brand experiences that blurred the line between retail and entertainment. Each activation—from a takeover of the Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel to a pink-themed elevator installation at One World Trade Center—was crafted to reflect the playful essence of the Pop, while engaging consumers, influencers, and media in dynamic, visually driven environments.

For the Nespresso Pop Café activations, the creative process began with an immersive and highly strategic ideation phase, focused on translating the Pop machine’s playful, compact personality into bold, culturally resonant experiences. Each concept was designed not only to reflect the machine’s vibrant design and versatility but also to align with regional nuances, market priorities, and consumer behavior. We brainstormed experiential ideas tailored to specific cities and cultural moments—strategically engineered to spark curiosity, generate organic buzz, and deepen brand relevance. Concept presentations to the Nespresso team included moodboards, creative rationale, and early sketches, all crafted to illustrate how each activation would capture attention, drive engagement, and amplify the Pop product story through immersive, memorable touchpoints.
Once a concept was approved, we transitioned into detailed development—building full spatial mockups, event collateral, and activation toolkits. This stage involved strategic curation, from visual storytelling and layout planning to sourcing props and identifying the right influencers whose content style and audience aligned with the campaign’s tone. Influencer integration was treated as an extension of the activation, designed to expand reach while maintaining message control and visual cohesion. Each element of the environment—from custom vinyls and lighting to branded signage and tactile props—was intentionally chosen to reflect the Pop machine’s colorways, energy, and accessible luxury. The goal was to create an environment that wasn’t just beautiful, but also purpose-built for social sharing, interaction, and brand immersion.
As we moved into pre-production, every detail was refined through a strategic lens—ensuring the design system scaled across locations, supported event logistics, and adhered to Nespresso’s global brand standards. Final deliverables included print-ready files, production specs, influencer briefing documents, and visual guides to ensure alignment across all physical and digital touchpoints. The result was a series of highly shareable, visually arresting activations that positioned the Pop machine as both a lifestyle essential and a cultural conversation piece. These events not only brought the product to life in experiential form, but also reinforced Nespresso’s ability to innovate beyond the cup—connecting with consumers in ways that felt fresh, fun, and deeply relevant.

The activations at the Santa Monica Pier and One World Trade Center generated significant buzz and successfully introduced the Pop machine to two key markets through highly immersive, culturally resonant experiences. The Santa Monica Pier event, set against the iconic Ferris wheel, attracted a steady flow of foot traffic and became a visual magnet for influencers and passersby alike—creating a surge in organic social content and brand mentions. The playful beachside café setup highlighted the compact design and colorful personality of the Pop machine, driving awareness among a younger, lifestyle-focused audience. At One World Trade Center, the winter activation debuted the pink Pop machine with a sleek, elevator-themed café experience that turned an everyday moment into a branded journey. Attendees received custom event tickets with scannable QR codes, linking them to product features and driving digital engagement. Both activations garnered high engagement on social media, increased traffic to the Nespresso website, and were celebrated internally as standout moments in the Pop campaign—proving the power of experiential design to create lasting brand impressions in unexpected spaces.
