For Bluemercury’s 2025 Effortless Summer campaign, I led the art direction and brought the brand’s seasonal narrative to life through a fully integrated digital and physical experience. From the homepage to the campaign landing page, every design touchpoint was thoughtfully curated to evoke the essence of a luxurious summer escape. The visual identity—anchored in rich oceanic blues, sunlit water reflections, and the glow of bronzed, sun-kissed skin—was carried across channels with precision and elegance. Social media content, targeted email marketing, and in-store displays all reflected the same elevated aesthetic, ensuring a cohesive and immersive brand story. The campaign’s atmosphere was designed to feel premium and aspirational—balancing the serenity of seaside minimalism with the warmth and radiance of golden hour. As part of the broader seasonal initiative, I also developed custom signage for Bluemercury’s new store openings during the holidays, blending the summer campaign's visual language with festive retail moments for a seamless brand experience.

01 Background

The creative process began with the development of a series of curated moodboards that explored a range of visual directions for the campaign. These initial concepts helped define the tone and aesthetic across key brand touchpoints—website, email marketing, and social media. Once the vision was aligned internally, we mocked up the overall look and feel for each channel, presenting a cohesive creative direction to senior leadership. The designs were met with enthusiasm and received full approval, allowing us to move forward with execution.
Next, we created detailed presentation decks that outlined the shotlist, complete with inspiration imagery, product selections, prop styling, and specific art direction for each individual setup. Every shot was intentionally crafted to bring the campaign’s narrative to life, ensuring that the photography would align seamlessly with our digital design goals.
Once final photography was delivered, we began designing a unified brand experience—translating visuals into immersive layouts for web, email, and social. The website experience was thoughtfully prototyped for both mobile and desktop, emphasizing fluidity, ease, and visual storytelling. From wireframes to high-fidelity mockups, every element was fine-tuned to reflect the effortless elegance of the campaign. The process culminated in the full development and launch of the website pages, where the final look and feel came together as a polished, aspirational campaign ecosystem.

From a design perspective, Bluemercury’s website played a pivotal role in the success of the Effortless Summer campaign, driving measurable growth and deepening customer engagement. Website sessions rose by 10%, and total sales saw an 8% lift, underscoring the campaign’s ability to captivate a wider audience through elevated visuals and seamless UX. A sharp increase in traffic during January reflected the effectiveness of seasonal storytelling and the impact of thoughtful campaign design. Since the brand’s reimagining in the fall, the site has maintained strong sales momentum and a higher average order value—clear indicators of a refined product presentation and user journey. The Effortless Summer campaign reinforced Bluemercury’s refreshed digital presence, contributing to notable growth both online and in-store, and showcasing the power of cohesive design in shaping a premium, immersive brand experience.
